We all know that no good day, or afternoon for that matter, can be started without coffee. With this said, if you are stuck and don't want to go to just another chain, here are three local coffee shops worth giving a shot.
Greater Goods Coffee
If you are looking to buy the BEST coffee Austin can offer, you need to stop by this Texas-bred coffee shop. Founded in 2015, Greater Goods Coffee established its core values of giving back to those who give to them. Specifically, for every bag of coffee sold, a portion of the profit is then donated back to their non-profit partners. Additionally, they choose to work with producers that specifically share their core values of sustainability, transparency, equity, and creativity. Their hopes are that good coffee can bring good people together and with your help, they can make that happen, so make sure and stop by Greater Goods Coffee while in town.
Desnudo Coffee
Another Austin staple is Desnudo Coffee whose goals are very different from other places around the area. Desnudo values the work of the farmers who make the coffee industry possible. With this being said, they highly value teaching coffee farmers new techniques and encouraging them to produce special coffees while teaching them how to do it all through sustainable practices and regenerative agriculture. While they are closed on Tuesdays, their hours are fairly open with weekday hours being 7 a.m.- 2 p.m. and weekends being 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. If you are in the area and looking for a great coffee place, make sure to support Desnudo as they support the farmers.
Cherrywood Coffeehouse
If you are looking for a great atmosphere and a community-centered place, Cherrywood Coffeehouse is a great option to consider. Open from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Cherrywood Coffeehouse has so much to offer. From art fairs and open mic nights to reasonable prices and award-winning food, Cherrywood is great in all aspects. The facility is accepting to people of all ages and even your four-legged friends in case they want to come along. Overall if you are looking for a place to eat, grab a cup of coffee, or even just hang out, Cherrywood is the place for you.
